Rwenzori Mountains National Park

Uganda

The Rwenzori — the Mountains of the Moon — are a trek, not a game-drive. Heather, bogs, granite and, in good years, remaining ice. This is technical wet mountain travel even in the so-called dry season. You need the right operator, the right days, and honest fitness language.

Afrisites books the Central Circuit or Kilembe trail with park-authorised crews. Day walks from the gate exist for people who want the forest without the huts. We do not sell a “Rwenzori afternoon” on a gorilla itinerary; it does not fit.

The massif sits above Queen Elizabeth and Kasese. Combine with a savannah night only if you have already accepted that this is a different holiday from Kazinga.

Wildlife

Forest and afro-alpine specialists — the trip is a mountain trek, not a game drive.

What we book here

  • Multi-day Rwenzori trek (Central Circuit or Kilembe)
  • Day walks from the park gate
  • Combine with Queen Elizabeth or Kibale

Where we put you

Gate lodges for day walks; mountain huts on multi-day routes. This is not a luxury-spa product.

Getting there

Kasese is the town. From Queen Elizabeth you are already close. From Kampala it is a full day.

How we combine it

Queen Elizabeth, Kibale, or a specialist mountaineering week with no gorillas on the same permit sheet.

Best time

Late December–February and June–August. This is technical, wet mountain travel even in the “dry” season.
