Lake Kivu is the rest shore: Gisenyi/Rubavu in the north, Kibuye in the middle, Cyangugu toward Nyungwe. Coffee, boats, a town beach. It is not a safari park. It is how Rwanda itineraries breathe between gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking.

We use it after Volcanoes or before Nyungwe. A single night is enough for most guests. Two nights if someone in the group is tired of mountains.

Getting there

From Musanze a couple of hours to Rubavu. From Nyungwe an afternoon to Cyangugu or a longer run to Kibuye.
