Gishwati Mukura National Park
Rwanda
Gishwati-Mukura is a regenerating Albertine forest, a conservation story as much as a game park. Chimpanzees are being habituated; activities depend on trail status. We confirm before we quote, and we cancel the activity rather than sell a walk that is closed.
It sits geographically between Volcanoes and Nyungwe / Lake Kivu — useful as a link, not as a week-long base.
Wildlife
Chimpanzees in a regenerating Albertine Rift forest, plus monkeys and forest birds.
What we book here
- Chimpanzee tracking (when open)
- Canopy and community trails
- A link between Volcanoes and Nyungwe / Lake Kivu
Where we put you
Small forest lodges or a Kivu hotel used as a base. Infrastructure is lighter than Nyungwe.
Getting there
On the road west from Musanze toward Rubavu, or as a detour on a Nyungwe transfer.
How we combine it
Volcanoes, Lake Kivu, Nyungwe.
Best time
Activities depend on trail and habituation status — we confirm before we quote.
